Tiffany Stained Glass

Learn the Basics of stained glass using the Tiffany or copperfoil method.   In this 6 weeks class students will make a small suncatcher and construct a small glass panel.  Most tools are provided, but the student will need to purchase a glass cutter and supplies for the small glass panel.  Glass supplies are available at the studio.  Cost:  $150 tuition plus purchase of supplies for second project and glass cutter ($30-$60)

 

 

 

 

Leaded Stained Glass Class

Date: Tuesdays, September 14 - October 19th

Time:  9:30 am - 12:30  pm

 

Learn the principles of building a leaded stained glass window.   In this 6 weeks class, students will construct a small panel using the age-old leaded stained glass method.  Cutting glass, using patterns to create a leaded window, use of lead and glazing techniques will be covered.  The students will need to purchase a glass cutter and supplies for the small glass panel.   Glass supplies are available for purchase at the studio.    Cost:  $150 tuition plus purchase of supplies for second project and glass cutter ($30-$60)

 




Introduction to Acrylic and Collage - NEW!

Time:  6-9 pm                                            

 

Expand your creative limits as you learn new and experimental ways of expressing yourself with water-based acrylic paints.  In this four week class you will learn how to achieve line, depth and texture in your work.   Techniques covered include the use of mediums, application techniques of paint and collage.  Cost:  $120 tuition for 4 weeks.  Contact studio or instructor for information about required supplies.  




After School Art for Kids - NEW!

Dates:  Every Thursday, beginning September 23

Time:  4:00 - 5:00

Join Robin for weekly after school kid art activities at a real art studio.  Various art activities, techniques, and basic art concepts will be explored:  Learn while having fun.  Painting, watercolor, Paper mache, collage, wire sculpture, and mosaics.... these are just a few of the activities.  Enrollment is limited.   Need a class on a different day or time for your child or group?  Contact Robin at A Creative Art Studio.

Ages:  Call for specific age group

Artists should wear clothes for working with paints and other messy activities.

 Basic Beaded Jewelry 101 October 25th

Not quite sure how to get started creating your own jewelry? In this basic jewelry class you will create a beautiful pair of beaded earrings, bracelet and necklace while learning the basics of bead stringing. This three hour class will cover basic stringing materials, clasps, and use of simple tools and findings. If you have favorite beads that you would like to incorporate into your jewelry, please bring to class. Otherwise, beads and supplies can be purchased at the studio. Tools provided by instructor.

Cost: $30 tuition plus beading supplies. (Estimated cost of supplies and beads $7- $15)

Make a Bracelet     November 1st

Learn the basic techniques of jewelry assembly while making a unique and clever bracelet. A simple wire design will be taught and can be used to make a wire and beaded bracelet or a stretchy bracelet. Bring your favorite beads or purchase beads and supplies from the instructor. Tools provided by instructor.

Cost: $30 plus beading supplies. (Cost of supplies varies according to project)

Soldered Glass Necklace  November 8th

Create your own clever necklace medallion using stained glass techniques. In this class you will learn to cut glass, solder, make jump rings and work with decorative wire in order to create a one of a kind necklace medallion. Bring your favorite beads to accent your piece and don't forget your favorite images to use as the focal point. Instructor will also have other items to embellish your work.

Cost: $30 for tuition.  Necklace for medallion or beads can be purchased at studio. Tools provided by instructor.

 

Journal Writing Workshop

Do you like to write?  Do you keep a journal?  In this five - session workshop, you will experience the joy of writing in a group while learning how to keep a journal for personal growth, creative expression and life enrichment.  Whether you're a novice or a seasoned journal-keeper, you'll find this workshop immediately useful, friendly and fun.   Limited enrollment.

Rachel Yeatts, PH.D. and certified instructor, believes journaling is a healthy tool for life-long personal growth, self-discovery, self-expression, and for starting the seeds of artistic work.  Join her for this workshop that practices journaling techniques in a group setting with guided writing exercises and culminates in making or decorating your own journal.

 

Stenciled and Stitched:  A Journal with an urban Twist!

Dates:  Saturdays Afternoons, Sept 25 - October 16th

In this class you will be creating a portfolio of stenciled samples and a beautiful and unique art journal.  Learn special spray paint techniques using found objects and stencils.   We will use readymade stencils but also learn to cut stencils. Once pages are made you will then be stitching up your own little stencil manifesto.   This little book is meant to be a visual, tactile experience....a place to let all your newly learned techniques "come out and play.".  There will be a minimal of materials needed for this class and some things you may have on hand.   Join Crystal for this Art Journal Fun.     Cost:  $125.00 plus materials (black and white spray paint, white card stock or hot press watercolor paper, collage or fabric scraps)

 

Watercolor Batik

Learn a new technique of painting using the watercolor batik method.   This process is similar to the age old technique where melted wax is applied to fabric as a resist and then the fabric is dipped in dye.   In watercolor Batik the wax is applied to rice paper and paints are used to add the color.  The process gives a beautiful one of a kind batik painting.  Cost:  100.00 tuition plus purchase of supplies (estimated at $10- $20)

Bring:  Your favorite watercolors and brushes and you can purchase rice paper and Tjanting tool from instructor

 

Drawing I and II   NEW!

Want to improve your drawing skills?   This class presents techniques for drawing in a logical, methodical and easy to understand progression.  Working with each individual at their own level of skill, this class will take you through the principles of proportion established with line drawing to the study of tonal values and eventually color.  Over time, discussion and experimentation with various other media, including charcoal, pastel, pen and ink, will take place.   Classes will be fast-paced and packed full of enough information to achieve satisfying and even surprising results in a short time with some practice and perseverance.  This class includes discussions and demonstrations of drawing techniques,  in class worktime, and one on one critique with each student to address their individual progress and needs. Cost:   Tuition $100.00 for each 3 week sesson plus supplies.   A list of materials will be provided at time of enrollment and will be needed by the 2nd class.  (estimated cost of supplies $10-$18)




Dia de Muertos Craft Class (Day of the Dead)  NEW!

 Day of the Dead, Dia de Nuertos is a Mexican folk tradition of artistic expression dedicated to remembering and honoring those who have passed before us through crafts and decorations.   In this fun and exciting four week class you will learn authentic techniques for making embossed tin candles, glittered skull canvas, reversed glass painting, paper flowers and more.  come embark on a creative journey to a mystical land!  Cost:  $120 tuition but fee for art supplies.

 

 Painting with Oil or Acrylic

Painting is painting, whether you paint with Acrylic (water based paints) or Oil (petroleum based paints). This course covers some of the basics such as information on acquiring & utilizing materials- brushes, pallette knives, mediums, and working surfaces.   After discussing the basics of the working tools and materials, you begin your painting experience by transferring an image of your choice, to a miniature surface.  Midway through the second session you begin to execute your own 11”x14” or 16”x20" work on canvas or panel. Learn by doing. Roll up your sleeves and execute!  Cost:  100.00 tuition.   First day of class all materials are provided with information for acquiring additional materials and supply lists. Find your Medium (Basic Art Class)

Not sure which creative medium is your forte?  Can't decide if you want to draw, or paint, or both?  Lin's class will help you decide.  Spend a little time learning basic training skills for drawing.   Learn about the basic elements of art such as value, negative space, and composition.  Then take those elements and experiment with different  mediums like dry media - pastels and charcoal, then watercolor, acrylics or perhaps even a little oil.   This course is desinged to give you a broad overview of the creative processes and help you select course of preference.   All materials provided.   Cost:  $100.00 (All supplies included)
