Tiffany Stained Glass Class

Tuesday Evening Class (6 Weeks)                                                                        

Date:  May 29 - July 3rd

 

Time:  9:30 am - 12:30 pm 

 

Learn the Basics of stained glass using the Tiffany or copperfoil method. In this 6 weeks class students will make a small suncatcher and construct a small glass panel.  Learn how to cut glass, solder metals, and build a simple metal frame for the panel.  Characteristics of glass will also be discussed.  Most tools are provided, but the student will need to purchase supplies for the small glass panel.  Glass supplies are available at the studio.   Cost:  $150 Plus supplies.

 

Beginning Watercolor

Would you like to watercolor but don't know where to begin?  In this class we will cover brushes, type of paper and basic information about watercolor paints.  A different watercolor technique will be introduced and explored each week.  Learn to work with the beautiful flow of watercolors on a variety of surfaces.  A supply list will be provided for the class and paper can be purchased from the instructor.  Cost:  $95 Plus supplies.

 

 

Technique Tuesday

Tuesdays, Evening Class (Come to one class or all four)

Time:  7:00 - 9:00 pm

 

In this class you will learn over 50 mixed media techniques over four Tuesday evening classes. The class will be broken down into the following categories: collage, printmaking, painting, and drawing.  These techniques can be added to your existing bag of tricks, used for sketchbook starters, used in visual journals, or any mixed media project.  Some can be artwork all by themselves.  Sign up for all four or just the ones that sound interesting.   Cost:  $25 per class or $80 for four classes.

 

Printmaking without a Press

Saturday Workshop (1 day)                                                                       

Date: May 12th

Time:  10:00 am - 4:00 pm                                                             

 

After a short lesson in Notan, the balance of lights and darks in a composition, students will learn the techniques behind relief or block printing.  Students will use their Notan design to create a carving i linoleum and produce a series of black and white prints.  In this workshop we will explore printing in color, printing on different paper and altering prints to create beautiful mono prints.  All materials provided for the class.  Cost:  $75 Plus supplies. 

 

Watercolor Batik

Thursday Morning Class (3 Weeks)                                                                        

Date: May 17th - May 31st

Time:  9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Learn a new technique of painting using the Watercolor Batik method.  Tis process is similar to the age old technique where melted wax is applied to fabric as a resist and then the fabric is dipped in dye.  In Watercolor Batik, the wax is applied to rice paper and paints are used to add the color.  The process give a beautiful one of a kind batik painting.  Bring your favorite watercolors and brushes.  You can purchase rice paper from the instructor.  Cost:  $85 (plus some supplies)  

 
 
 

Encaustic Monotype Workshop

Learn to create prints using pigmented wax and a heated surface.  In this one day workshop, you will learn basic encaustic monotype techniques to create multiple one of a kind prints.  All encaustic materials are supplied.  Students will receive a supply list of recommended paper and paper will also be available to purchase during the workshop.  Cost:  $125 tuition plus paper.
  
 

Discharged Cloth and Clothing

Explore different techniques for making design on cloth using bleach discharge.  We'll experiment with spraying, drawing, stamping, stemciling and painting as well as pole - wrapped and bound Shibori.  Bleach, beach stop and some tools provided.  Students bring desired clothing such as tee shirts, scarves, jeans, etc.  plus extra fabric to experiment on and some tools.  Supply list available at studio.   Cost:  $45 plus some supplies

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, this class will offer a wide range of possibilities of exploring and learning new skills.  Using a variety of activities explore charcoal, pencil and/or other mediums.  Whether drawing from still life, photos or from the imagination, Linka will give you new tools for your art tool kit!  Cost:  $95 for three lessons.
 

 

Mosaic Class

 Build a beautiful mosaic of your choice while learning the basics of Mosaic Work.  In this class you will work with glass and/or tile and found objects and create a beautiful mosaic on a framed piece of glass or other item such as a mirror, table, top or tray.  class will cover use of adhesives, cutting glass and grouting and sealing.  For this 5 weeks class the student will need to purchase a tile cutter and supplies for the project.  Cost:  $125 tuition plus purchase of supplies for second project and tile cutter ($30 - $60)
